What Watch Does Bruce Wayne Wear? Every Batman Film, Identified

The Bruce Wayne watch most often seen on screen is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso: a flip-over rectangular case worn by Val Kilmer and Christian Bale, with Ben Affleck switching to a platinum Breguet Tradition tourbillon (reference 7047) in Batman v Superman.

Quick answer Jaeger-LeCoultre tied its Reverso to the Dark Knight films, and its own 2012 press material names the Reverso Grande Date for The Dark Knight Rises. Affleck’s Bruce is widely identified with a Breguet Tradition Fusée Tourbillon 7047 in platinum. For Michael Keaton, George Clooney and Robert Pattinson, we found no reliable on-screen identification.

The Reverso: Bruce Wayne’s signature watch

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is a rectangular Art Deco watch from 1931 whose case slides and flips to hide the dial behind a solid steel back. That makes it a neat fit for a man with a public face and a secret one. In the Batman films, the back carries a Bat-Shield, visible only when the watch is reversed.

Below is the current catalog watch closest to what Bruce wears. The screen watches were the Reverso Grande Taille and the Reverso Grande Date, both now retired or reworked, so treat this as a modern equivalent rather than the exact piece.

The older Reverso Grande Date seen in the third Nolan film is a different animal: a manual-winding model with a dual date and a long power reserve. One pre-owned rose-gold example is listed with the JLC Calibre 875 and an eight-day reserve, but the film watch is described as steel with a black dial, so check any specific reference before buying.

Val Kilmer and the 1995 Batman Reverso

Batman Forever (1995): widely identified. Jaeger-LeCoultre has said it made a limited Reverso Grande Taille series with the Batman logo engraved and lacquered on the case back, and in 2012 it described that release as coming 17 years before The Dark Knight Rises. Several watch publications, including Quill & Pad and WorldTempus, say Val Kilmer’s Bruce Wayne wore the Reverso Grande Taille.

We could not find a studio or costume-department statement confirming the exact piece on Kilmer’s wrist, so we treat this as widely identified, not confirmed. Browse more of our Jaeger-LeCoultre coverage for other wearers of the brand.

Christian Bale in the Dark Knight trilogy

Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008): widely identified. Time+Tide, Quill & Pad and others place a Reverso Grande Taille on Bale’s wrist in both films. One enthusiast site names a Reverso Grande Date 8 Days for Batman Begins instead, so sources disagree on the exact model, but they agree on the Reverso family. None of these articles cite a JLC or studio statement for those two films.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012): confirmed by the brand. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s own July 2012 announcement, reproduced by La Côte des Montres, says the Reverso Grande Date appears in the film and that the Bat-Shield shows only when the watch is reversed. The brand also marked the release with a Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931 carrying a Bat-Shield, which was a tribute piece and not a retail model. Bale’s Bruce Wayne, in short, wears a Reverso in all three films.

Ben Affleck: the Breguet Tradition 7047

Batman v Superman (2016) and Justice League (2017/2021): widely identified. Affleck’s Bruce wears a platinum Breguet Tradition Fusée Tourbillon, reference 7047PT. Deployant’s early spotting reports that Breguet itself described the watch as a Tradition Tourbillon, and Quill & Pad and the Spyscape guide name the 7047PT, with Spyscape citing a price of about $190,000 at the time.

Its offset dial and visible mechanism read as a rich man’s quiet toy, a long way from the Reverso’s dress-watch discretion. Another database listing from the same period, though, carries a different reference suffix, so the exact variant is less certain than the model family.

One side note: the same Deployant spotting also notes that Affleck’s earlier film Argo featured an A. Lange & Söhne Langematik Perpetual Calendar. One page we read says a Lange appears in the opening of Batman v Superman, but we found no second source, so we have left it out of our ranking.

Michael Keaton, George Clooney and Robert Pattinson

Keaton (Batman, 1989; Batman Returns, 1992; The Flash, 2023): unconfirmed. No reputable source we read ties a specific watch to his Bruce Wayne. A watch-collection profile lists his personal watches, including a Rolex GMT-Master II and a Hamilton Khaki Field, but does not connect any of them to the films. We found nothing on a watch in his Flash scenes either.

George Clooney (Batman & Robin, 1997): unconfirmed. We found no credible identification.

Robert Pattinson (The Batman, 2022): no confirmed watch. Jaeger-LeCoultre named Pattinson a global ambassador in September 2026, so he is now tied to the same brand as the Reverso, but the announcement says nothing about the film. A Kross Studio Batman Tourbillon (10 sets, 100,000 CHF) was released as a tie-in, yet reports describe it as inspired by the Bat-Signal and do not say it appears on screen. We found no source supporting a Cartier watch in the film.

Affordable alternatives to Bruce Wayne’s watches

A real flip-case Reverso is hard to match cheaply, so the practical move is a rectangular dress watch in the same Art Deco spirit. The Hamilton American Classic Boulton is a rectangular automatic with a vintage look, and the Tissot Heritage Porto is a mechanical rectangular dress watch; both cost a small fraction of a Reverso, so check current prices. Our dress watches under $500 guide covers cheaper options.
