TAG Heuer Link Chronograph in The Bourne Quadrilogy.Jason Bourne (Played by Matt Damon) wears a
Jason Bourne is the main protagonist in a series of novels written originally by Robert Ludlum, and then continued on Eric Van Lustbader on the event of Mr. Ludlum’s death.
In 2002 the first of the Jason Bourne novels – The Bourne Identity – was adapted to a featured film bearing the same name and staring Matt Damon as the titular anti-hero Jason Bourne. Bourne is the pseudonym of secret Treadstone agent David Webb, who suffers from a bout of amnesia and must work quickly to piece his life together.
After falling off the grid and losing his memory, Agent Webb loses contact with the CIA and his handler in the Treadstone program. They – incorrectly – assume that he has betrayed his country and send men after him. Webb himself thinks he is his cover identity – Jason Bourne – and doesn’t understand why people are after him.
Once he learns of his real identity and the massive overreach of the Treadstone program and the CIA, Bourne spends the rest of the series attempting to dismantle the agency, who in turn tries to destroy him.
Starting in that film and moving through the original trilogy (The Bourne Identity, Supremacy, & Ultimatum) and the latest fifth installment (Jason Bourne), Damon is seen wearing the same TAG Heuer Link Chronograph. Whilst Tag have never publicly endorsed or acknowledged the model used, it is believed the exact model worn by Bourne is the Tag Heuer Link CT1111.BA0550, which was only in production for a couple of years (circa 2001) and is regularly hunted down by watch collectors and Bourne fans alike, making this model of the Link difficult to find.
The TAG Heuer Link Chronograph is a clean, professional watch put out by the TAG Heuer company that looks to stack up against watches like the Omega Seamaster. The Link Chronograph features a 42mm stainless steel case and stainless band with a uniquely molded link, giving the watch a signature look.
The entire watch is stainless steel silver with a black face and silver lettering. The TAG Heuer logo is located at the twelve o’clock position. As the name states, it is a chronograph watch with chronograph functions. The chronographic complications include a twelve hour, sixty second, and 1/10th of a second hands located at the 10 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 2 o’clock positions, respectively.
The watch also features an easy to read date complication between the 4 and 5 positions. All of the hour markers are silver ticks with luminescent dots above them, and smaller luminescent ticks that serve as minute markers. The bezel is unidirectional with a luminescent dot at the top position.
The Link Chronograph has a sapphire crystal that is glare and scratch resistant for easy reading and runs on a swiss quartz engine – so it will require a battery, but won’t lose time like an automatic watch.
The TAG Heuer Link Chronograph that Jason Bourne wears is rated water resistance at a depth of 20 BAR/200Meters – or 660 feet. It is rated for recreational scuba use and should be just fine to take swimming.
All in all, the TAG Heuer Link Chronograph is an impressive watch fit for use by impressive individuals such as Jason Bourne – and you! And coming in at $2,485.00 it is about a third of the price you’d pay for a Bond watch!
The below scene of Jason escaping the embassy in the Bourne Identity is one of the best scenes to checkout the Tag Link in action!
The films center around retired assassin John Wick – who just wants to be left alone after his wife dies, but keeps getting drawn back into the seedy underworld of assassins. The films take places within 4 days of each other, according to the writers and directors, and really tell one long story.
After Wick’s wife dies, he is given a puppy to keep him company. Between that and his car, he has enough to at least keep him occupied. That is, until some thugs steal his car and kill his dog. Wick goes on a rampage destroying a Russian mob boss and his entire family in revenge. In Chapter 2, word of John’s rampage gets around and causes some folks to come knocking, forcing him to pick up his guns again and shoot his way back to retirement.
In the movies, Wick is seen wearing a $8,695.00 . Carl F. Bucherer is a Swiss watch maker that is based in Lucerne and was founded in 1888. The Manero AutoDate is a beautiful brushed 18 karat rose gold watch with a 42mm case and a sapphire crystal.
This luxurious watch features the Carl F. Bucherer logo at the 12 o’clock position, and a date complication at the 3 o’clock position. The hands and indices are all made out of rose gold, with the hands having the distinction of being luminescent. The watch also features luminescent dot markers at each of the hour indices.
Because the watch features a self winding automatic engine (CFB 1950 caliber movement), the second hand sweeps the face instead of ticking. The watch is able to carry a reserve power of 38 hours, and is water resistant to 3 atmospheres (about 30 meters, or 100 feet).
The crystal sapphire is scratch resistant and comes with an anti-reflective coating on both sides to help cut out the glare during day use, making the watch easy and comfortable to read.
The strap is brown alligator leather with a rose gold pin and buckle. This beautiful watch is classy, stylish, and perfect for any assassin looking to leave an impression. This watch can be purchased on Amazon for $8,695.00 , and shipped directly to you, so you don’t need to go on a murderous rampage just to get one!
We know the dog scene is heartbreaking, so we loved seeing the dog get his revenge in the parody “Dog Wick” shown below. Go doggo!
Ernest Hemingway wore a Rolex Oyster Perpetual.
When it comes to Ernest Hemingway, the average person will only see him as the writer of, “The Old Man and The Sea”. However, he was an incredibly complex person that traveled all around the world, went to parties, was an amateur boxer, and an alcohol connoisseur.
As is true with many artists and honest story tellers, Hemingway was a bit of a tortured soul. So many of his writings are incredibly interesting because they tell the stories that reflect the complicated and difficult nature of being human. He was a heavy drinker and lived a life of chaos much of the time. As he is also known for tragically ending his own life, it is easy to see that there were not many stable things in his life.
There were two things that were very consistent for Ernest Hemingway. The first was waking up and writing. He was known to write every morning as soon as he could. The other thing that was incredibly steady was his Rolex Oyster Perpetual. This was the watch that he wore almost every day. It was a classy steel watch that was the steady timekeeper for the man with a life that was all over the place.
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual is a beautiful steel watch (or “Oystersteel”) with a stainless-steel band. However, Hemingway’s Rolex Oyster that he was often pictured with is from the 1950s and is 18 carat gold and has a leather band.
Hemingway admired the Rolex Oyster Perpetual so much that it found its way into his novel Across the River and Into the Trees when he compared the watch to the human heart:
“Do you think it breaks for me? If so, I would come and simply be with you and care for you.”
“It’s just a muscle,” the Colonel said. “Only it is the main muscle. It works as perfectly as a Rolex Oyster Perpetual. The trouble is you cannot send it to the Rolex representative when it goes wrong. When it stops, you just do not know the time. You’re dead.”
Here Hemingway is equating the accuracy of an Oyster Perpetual to the human heart. But in the case of a Rolex, it can be fixed if it needs to be repaired. This was not a product placement, Hemingway had a genuine fondness for Rolexes and wasn’t afraid to show it.
The Oyster Perpetual is Rolex’s entry level model. Its classic design doesn’t come with features such as date or day and comes exclusively in stainless steel. This is a great watch if you’re thinking of entering into the world of Rolex.
The modern day 36mm Oyster has the following specs:
Ernest Hemingway has also been spotted wearing a Rolex Bubbleback. The Bubbleback was the pre-cursor to the Oyster Perpetual, and was one of the first automatic watches available when it launched in 1933. Getting its name from its distinctive protruding “bubbleback” case, Rolex decided to house the large auto-rotor movement in a larger case rather than increase the watch’s overall size.
Hemingway’s Bubbleback probably dates from the late 1940’s.
While he was most commonly seen wearing his Rolexes, he also had several interesting pocket watches. This seems even more incredibly fitting for Hemingway, the cigar smoking, rum sipping, bull fighter. Nothing says, “intellectual writer”, like the Hamilton pocket watch that he was given by Ava Gardner for his 55th birthday. Obviously, there is no need to constantly check the time if you are in the depths of writing for the first half of the day and chasing experiences in the evening. That is why a classy old pocket watch would be perfect.
There are so many different things about Hemingway that you could dissect and try to understand. The complications are what made his work great, but also lead to his unfortunate end and his misery. One thing that he could count on was his steady Rolex Oyster Perpetual, but even that could not calm the tides for this old man and his internal sea.
It is not very often that a watch takes on such a big role in a movie. However, the character that Ryan Gosling plays in Drive is based on a very particular book character. The character is not someone that owns a lot, but he was passed down a great watch from his father that he treasured. Obviously, that means that the watch really needs to stand out in the film. The classic Patek Phillipe watch that Gosling is wearing in the film is absolutely the perfect choice.
This is not a watch that you can go out and buy, because it is not an actual model for sale. The actual watch is a very simple model, with a classic look and a brown leather strap. Gosling does not actually wear the original watch that much in the film because the intensity of the stunts would have broken it. There were a few replicas built to handle the stunts. The reason the watch stands out so much in the film is because it is very different from the big driving watches that are normally worn by stunt drivers. This is a simple looking, classic style watch that is very believable as something that would be passed from father to son.
This watch is small, which helps it complement the personality of the character because of his desire to keep things simple. There are very few features on the watch, though it does have a sub-dial with a seconds hand. The character in the movie has to keep track of five-minute time periods before criminals return to his car, which would make a chronograph function extremely useful for the work that he is doing.
Overall this is a watch that is focused on looking great and not being too flashy. Since it is a rather expensive timepiece, it is perfect to imagine it being a family heirloom and the character’s one truly prized possession. Since it is so crucial to Gosling’s character in the film, the watch truly takes on a shining role, which is incredible for such an understated piece of technology.
While the politics and life of President John F. Kennedy are filled with controversy and a wide range of opinions, one thing that is not up for debate is that he is a widely known and recognized man. From his sense of style, relative youth for such a high office, and his tragic death, there are few Presidents that stand out as much as Kennedy in history.
Part of that story is the two iconic women that are so closely tied to President Kennedy and will always come up as topics of conversation surrounding the man himself. Each of these women gave the President a watch, and each watch is a part of history because of it.
For starters, his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy, gave her husband an 18 karat gold Cartier Tank watch on their fourth wedding anniversary. This watch was inscribed with his initials, their wedding date, and the Kennedy family arms.
This watch was one of the most recognizable watches that JFK wore because it was the watch that he was wearing on the day that he was assassinated in Dallas, TX.
The 18 karat gold Cartier watch, or as it might be called for JFK, the Jackie, is a watch with a gold face, gold hands, gold lug…basically the entire body is gold. Obviously, it is much more a style and class statement than it is a watch for readability or endurance. This watch has no numbers, only lines to mark the time, and only features a minute and hour hand. With the brown leather band, it was clearly meant to be a fashionable watch that exudes wealth and power.
The particular watch was given back to the first lady after her husband was killed. It was then given to his secretary and eventually ended up in the hands of the collector Robert White.
The second iconic woman is Marilyn Monroe, widely believed to be someone the President was having an affair with, and the second watch, is equally a special part of history, even though it is shrouded in rumors. The Rolex Day-Date model is often referred to as the “President” because many holding the office, from Eisenhower and on after, wore this watch often. The particular one that is attributed to President Kennedy, and was supposedly gifted by Ms. Monroe, is inscribed with a poem in the case, and is inscribed on the back of the watch with, “Jack, with love as always, from, Marylyn, May 29th , 1962″
This watch is made entirely of Gold, from the face to the band. The case was inscribed with a poem, according to stories, that read:
“A Heartfelt Plea on Your Birthday.
Let lovers breath their sighs and roses bloom and music sound.
Let passion burn on the lips and eyes and pleasures merry world go round.
Let golden sunshine flood the sky and let me love or let me die.”
This watch features a day and a date reading, a second hand, and some other features missing from the Cartier, it is still a watch that is clearly built for style.
This watch sold at auction for $120,000 in 2005, far exceeding the expected price of $60,000.
Perhaps the most iconic watch is the Omega Ultra Thin that looks a lot like the Cartier Tank, but sized more elegantly. Upon receiving this watch from Senator Stockdale, Jackie wrote a note thanking the Senator for the “thinnest most elegant wristwatch”. John also wrote to the Senator on a separate occasion, ending the letter with “I am now wearing the Stockdale watch. Again.” Kennedy clearly had enough admiration of the watch to give it the nickname “Stockdale”.
Engraved on the back of the watch: “President Of The United States John F. Kennedy From His Friend Grant”.
He was photographed numerous times wearing this watch, including at his inauguration speech which was on the cover of Life Magazine.
The watch was purchased back by Omega for $350,000 and is now housed in the Omega Museum in Switzerland. Omega released a limited run of 261 commemorative watches in 2008. You’ll be hard pressed to find a similar Omega, unless you’re willing to pay a substantial sum on Ebay or similar.
Seiko produces a homage watch that looks very similar to the Omega Ultra Thin worn by Kennedy, but at a fraction of the price.
Through it all, this amazing feat was accomplished while wearing the Zenith El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th stainless steel watch. As you can imagine, it takes an incredible watch to be able to accompany a man on such an incredible mission, so why was this the watch for Baumgartner.
Considering that Baumgartner was launching himself from a space capsule that was inside a helium balloon, from an altitude of 39, 045 meters, and at a temperature of -62 degrees Celsius, the watch had to be durable. The Zenith watch had to be able to endure extreme conditions to be the right one.
The Zenith El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th is a beautiful watch, but might not be affordable for some. It’s usually priced at Out of stock, for a very good reason. It obviously brings all of the classic features that you need in a watch, such as easy readability, a date window, a durable and comfortable band, and a secure stainless steel buckle. The big difference with this watch comes in with its sapphire crystal protection on the front side that makes it incredibly durable and in addition, looks beautiful.
The stainless steel case makes this watch able to endure intense conditions, like the ones Baumgartner faced while falling at a rate of over 360 mph. What makes this watch so striking, is that after this freefall, it was working absolutely perfectly once it arrived on the ground. A watch that can endure that amount of drastic change in pressure, temperature, acceleration, and altitude, is absolutely incredible.
With a case thickness of 10 or 14 mm, this solid case backed watch is prepared to take on the most extreme of adventures without sacrificing on style. As with any high-end watch, the Zenith El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th is water resistant up to 100 meters, which makes it great for adventurers that are headed into the water as well.
With scratch resistant sapphire on the face to protect it, there is really nothing more you can ask for from a watch, but this one provides a power reserve of 50 hours as well. If you are looking for a high-end watch that can provide dependability in intense and extreme conditions, this is most certainly one of the best, and most historic options available.
The reason this watch surprises many people, is because Denzel is playing a pilot, so it might be assumed that he is going to be wearing something more expensive and luxurious. Despite the fact that he is not strapped for cash, Whitaker is wearing a rather inexpensive Timex watch that is not too flashy. The watch itself is black, has a black strap and has the look of the classic, durable watch.
The Timex Expedition Rugged Analog T49831 is a watch that you can find easily that provides incredible style, durability, and performs well, but it is also incredibly affordable. This men’s watch from Timex is perfect for anybody that needs a watch that can endure tough work or spending time in the great outdoors. With its clear numbering on the outside for every 5 minute/second mark, and all of the even hours marked in bold white, you will never have any trouble checking the time.
With a digital date window to help you keep track of the day, luminous hands to help you see what time it is even in the darker lighting, and even more so the indiglo night light keeping it visible at all times. With a black resin case, a black resin strap, and a crisp buckle clasp, you can always count on it to be comfortable and durable under any circumstances.
The strap for the Timex Expedition Rugged Analog T49831 is 10” long and provides a nice fit for almost everyone. Its features include being water resistant for up to 50 meters, so it is great for swimming, or any other water related activities. I am sure that Denzel’s character did not want to think about landing a plane on water, but if he had to swim, he would have been prepared.
As was mentioned before, this watch is great for the adventures that life brings. One of the best ways that this watch lends itself to the person on the go is that beyond its durability, it also has great readability. With large numbering, a clear hour hand, minute hand, and second hand it has one of the easiest analog displays for anyone to read no matter what they are doing. Taking it one step further, this incredible and affordable watch is just as easy to read at night. Providing you with an indiglo night light and luminous hands, you can perfectly read this watch at night. This easy readability in the dark was probably another thing that a pilot like Whitaker enjoyed, and if you know that character, the easy readability was a must!
One thing that has not been mentioned yet is the rotating bezel feature on the Timex Expedition Rugged Analog T49831. This is great for anyone that needs to keep track of short periods of time easily, and with the simple analog reads on this watch you can do this easier than ever. It was likely a great feature for a pilot that needs to keep track of the time intervals involved in a flight. Since the watch is also water resistant for up to 50 meters, you might like the rotating bezel to help keep swimming times as well. This watch is clearly a wonderful and reliable option for someone looking for a clean and professional looking watch. The most surprising thing about the Timex Expedition Rugged Analog T49831 is that it is so incredibly affordable. You can find this watch for $32.00 and there is nothing better in the world of watches than finding one that performs at a high level and is not going to make your wallet too light. This watch is perfect for pretty much any budget, and because it is so incredibly durable, you are not going to have to replace it anytime soon.
There are few things that are more chaotic than a nursing shift. Whether it is in the ER or in a pediatrician’s office, finding the right watch to keep track of time, while being able to endure all of the tasks you have throughout the day can be difficult.
A great watch for a nurse starts with readability. When you are in the middle of a shift, you want to be able to look down, see the time, and get back to what you need to be doing. Small numbers, artsy designs that make reading the watch difficult, and other factors can be frustrating for you during the day. To find the right watch, you want easy to read numbers, a clear line for each minute within the hour, and if it had a digital reading as well, that would be great.
Nurses are also required to wash their hands constantly, as well as work with liquids and bodily fluids. A water-resistant watch is a must because no nurse has time to take their watch on and off for every single wash. Having a water-resistant watch also helps you to easily clean your watch, another important part of a nurse’s day. The field of medical care is a messy place, so being able to rinse off your water-resistant watch while washing your hands is incredibly helpful. So, what are the best watches out there, that meet these requirements and provide a comfortable option for nurses to wear?
The G-Shock is also incredibly durable, which is important for nurses on the job. It has a scratch resistant mineral dial window, is water resistant for up to 200 meters, and is shock resistant to avoid damage when dropped. The combination of scratch resistant material and water-resistant protection for the watch makes it great for the chaotic situations that come up throughout the day.
This watch is easy to clean, easy to read, and it is completely water resistant (unless you are planning a deep-sea dive), so it checks all the boxes for a nurse in need of a suitable watch. It is also a fairly priced watch with options available at $174.95!
Another great feature on this watch is the stainless-steel material. Having an affordable, durable, and easy to clean material on your watch is important, and this watch has it all. The dial window is made of scratch-resistant mineral so that you do not have to worry about the different times it gets dinged against a door or shelf throughout the day. Its resin band material is also incredibly durable and easy to clean while providing a comfortable fit throughout the day.
As always, as a nurse, you need a watch that is water resistant. With a 330 ft., water-resistant depth, this watch can endure all of the various liquids that will inevitably come its way throughout the day. With the combination of water resistance, stainless steel, and a resin band, you know that you can safely clean your watch after it gets dirty, which is bound to happen.
Conor McGregor is an Irish-born professional mixed martial artist who is well known for fighting in the UFC. McGregor is one of only two people in UFC history to win a contest at both the featherweight and welterweight levels. McGregor is a very impressive individual who has carved out a great deal of success for himself at such a young age. He is also quite well known for his extensive watch collection, which is evident by a quick peruse of his Instagram account (@thenotoriousmma)
The best part about the citizen? It comes in at a very reasonable $89.99, making it an affordable alternative to the Sky Dweller. And while there definitely is a notable difference between the two watches, if you’re looking for a quality and affordable watch that captures the feel of the Sky Dweller, this Citizen Eco-Drive won’t let you down.Check out the Citizen Eco-Drive on Amazon
Also among Conor’s impressive collection is his super suave Ice Blue Platinum Rolex Day-Date that he wore in the lead-up to his fight with Mayweather. The platinum version of the quintessential Rolex Day-Date packs a large punch (pun intended… sorry) in both performance and aesthetics. Combining classic features of the Rolex Day-Date Oyster collection such as 100m water resistance (perfect to use as a dive watch), robust perpetual movement of the Rolex Calibre 3255 (automatic), full day of the week displayed at 12 (available in 26 languages!) and a 26 hour power reserve. The platinum version features an elegant ice blue face, and is considerably heavier than the other metal versions of the Rolex Day-Date. Not getting $70 Million for a fight like McGregor and therefore not necessarily prepared to invest in a Rolex? Of course, there are alternatives. Especially given that Rolex is the most copied watch brand on the planet. A great alternative to the Rolex Day-Date is the Orient “President” Classic. This homage to the Rolex Day-Date features a 36mm case, full day of the week at 12, date magnifier, sapphire crystal and indices. Controlled by a very reliable in house automatic movement with two way winding clutch. Don’t be fooled, this is not a cheap Rolex knock-off, but a quality AND affordable watch in its own right. Check out the Orient “President” Classic on Amazon
Conor simply has too many other watches to mention without this turning into a massive article. So, I’ve just included some of his own images and videos from Insta below.
Omega Seamaster. In the video below he details his “Every Day Carry” items and lists the Omega Seamaster as “one of the most beautiful watches ever made”, and makes mention that it’s James Bond’s watch in Casino Royale.Adam Savage wears an
The Seamaster is a gorgeous and long-running watch by Omega. It’s not an inexpensive watch, but is very affordable for the luxury you get. You can check them out on amazon here, if you’d like to see this model of the Seamaster reviewed, you can check out our run down here.
